The Parents Plus Children’s Programme (PPCP) is a solution-focusedtrauma-informed and evidence-based course that builds on parent strengths. It can be delivered over 6-12 sessions to groups of parents or to individual families.

The Children’s Programme can be delivered as a universal programme for parents of children aged 6-12 years including those dealing with additional emotional and behavioural concerns.

By attending our training to become a facilitator for the Children’s Programme, you will learn how to support parents to:

  • encourage their children’s learning and education
  • understand and connect with their children
  • build their children’s self-esteem and wellbeing
  • reduce their own stress as parents
  • manage behaviour and emotional concerns
  • solve problems together with their children
  • establish positive daily routines for their family
  • develop warm, connected family relationships

Studies in primary schools, mental health and disability settings have shown that families who complete the Parents Plus Children’s programme report:

  • Increased child positive social behaviour
  • Reduced behaviour problems
  • Reduced emotional problems
  • Decreased parental stress
  • Increased parental confidence

“Parents Plus gave me a strong structure, with tried-and-tested content, to feel confident in facilitating the Children’s Programme.  Parents Plus challenges parents in a positive way, with parents less stressed and more relaxed with their families after doing the course.

Marian Clarke, Family Support Worker
